Profile Information

Are you a refugee from tribe.net?
Yes!
Who are ya?
I am primarily a percussionist for bellydance (but I also play a few other instruments). I am one of the two members from Eastwinds Tribal Drumming (a group that is on a hiatus) but I am even more active now playing for dancers in clubs and restaurants and for classes. There are quite a number of larger stage shows coming up that I am actively involved in and I write and record specific pieces of music for dancers to use in their acts. My recording studio and label is "Lazy Bear Studios" and I have a fairly sophisticated and complete multi-track digital studio.
I am also a fairly well known visual artist and illustrator. I am an art professor at Nassau Community College in Garden City NY and I teach regular classes in pastel portraiture and figure painting at The National Arts Club Pastel Society of America School at Gramercy Park South in New York City.
I am an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and regularly attend Pennsic War and teach classes there on Middle-Eastern and West African Percussion.
I have performed regularly with two NY area West African dance companies and I am very accomplished on djembe and dunnuns.
I've been a working musician since 1969 (yeah, I'm an old guy) and have done a lot of session work, pit work and played a whole lot of clubs as a jazz drummer. Been a member of AFM local 802 for about 37 years.
Where ya from?
