Welcome Tribe Refugees!

Hi all,

Tribe refuge - but must admit didn't even know it was going off line. Any hoo I'm going to Vegas Nov. 10th for 3 months and am looking for some dancing opportunities and alternative energy development resources. I've danced at restaraunts and on large and small stages. Looking to make some money shaking my hips :)

Hi,
Thanks for the response! Ya, I'd love to meet you and any dance op. is appreciated! I also have taught and sub regularly for a class that is at a gym and is geared for new students and for body shaping.
I'll be there on the 12th of Nov. I was born and raised in Vegas so technically Im coming home for the holidays and to help my parents who have been dealing with some health problems.
Look forward to hearing back from you. Let me know what types of events you have going on.
I was a convention model for many years and have done costumed character work also.
Talk to you soon

also my friend Samira hosts haflas and events, you can view them on www.bellydanceintensive.com and click on the local events page.

Hi Tori
Thanks for the welcome. I'd love to check out some classes when I get there. I love and respect tribal fusion but I haven't really done much (or any :) of it. I'd like to try. I'd love it if you kept me updated or tell me how to get more info on classes and workshops in Vegas.
Talk to you soon

Hey there!! Samira here!!

WELCOME to VEGAS!! We have tons of stuff that happens here. I am certain you will enjoy your time here. You might contact some of the talent agencies, such as Best Models, Farrington Productions, and some of the event planners. If you have a resume, some photos, and a DVD...I am sure you could pick up some corporate work while you are here.

And as Tori mentioned, there are lots of community things to check out. I do my best to post them all here:

Thanks for the input, funny you should mention contacting Farrington Productions and getting a DVD because I was planning on doing that and I worked for Farrington several years ago as costumed characters and auditioned for a belly dance position and I am MUCH better now. Thank you for confirming my intuitions and I'd love to hear more about you and what you do there in Sin City.

I used to work with Farrington as a character at Caesar's Palace. I bellydanced at the Bacchanal as well as being Celopatra. On occassion I would also be a princess. Bwahahahahah. That was a riot and a fun period of my professional career as a dancer. I met lots of amazing people and performed for a lot of famous folks. I get a lot of amusement knowing that I am in many stranger's photo albums across the world.

Today I organize the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival (www.bellydanceintensive.com) and I run a company that builds websites for small businesses (www.am-solutions.biz). Oh yes...and I'm a mom of 2 awesome kids!! LOL.

I am sure you will enjoy being back in Vegas.

Wow small world. I was a princess (Roman or Egyptian depending on the day :) for Farrington for almost a year several years ago and next to giving directions to the nearest bathroom I also posed for many a vacation photo. LOL
I have 1 boy, Zach, who is 10. Totally look forward to meeting up with you and comparing Caesars stories.

Wow...yeah...small world indeed! Best Models is the one that does the characters at Caesar's now. It was a really fun job though. I got to pass out medals at the slot tournaments. I was really close to being a "ring-girl" once for a live fight...but I had a high-roller boy toy that took me as an attendee instead. LOL. I was jealous of the ring-girls the whole time. Bwahahahahah. Even though I got to sit near Sylvester Stalone. *sigh*...what a crazy life I've had.

My daughter is 8 and my son is 3. They might meet at a hafla. They are kid-friendly...so bring your kid and come hang out. You can even dance if you feel like it.

Ya I knew a ring girl and always thought that would be cool. But I'd love to just go (never been to a big fight)
So I'll be in Vegas the 12th of Nov. and I was going to get pictures or a DVD to try and get some gigs. What are the agencies looking for these days?
I'd love to go to a hafla, you'll have to let me know when and where.
It's been in the 20's here and I'm looking forward to some warmer weather!
Soon! :)

You will just barely miss the Nov. hafla. The Dec. Hafla is on the 13th. Arthur Murray Studios: 4550 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite N, 7:30 pm. $5 + a plate of food to share. Kids 12 and under are free and always welcome.

As far as what the agencies are looking for...I couldn't really tell you. I am quite far out of the loop, but I'm sure young, pretty, fit, and reliable would sum it up. LOL. Talent is a bonus. hahahahaha.
