does any one know why?

Do any of you computer savy people know why I can't access the Blacksheep ning group from this one? Why do I have to sign in again and go to a different page? All kinds of other belly dance groups show up here, but not theirs.

As best I can tell, ning is separated into different *networks* and each of these *networks* has its own sign in page. There is a *network* called Tribe Refugees and requires another profile, etc.

It's also the one Gibson is having trouble with...as in, folks are being a bit "free-spirited" with photos and topics and now the site has been dubbed "adult - 18 & over". You might have to check your ;-) parental settings ;-)

yup. BSBD has their own "network" rather than "group".

I think ning is kinda like thousands of tribes.

Ning is just the platform on which all these sites are hosted.
Ning hosts more than 500,000 networks
Anyone can set up their own network although the company no longer supports
networks with adult content due to the problems and costs required to moderate
such sites. Hence any networks that have been bit too "free spirited" may well have been shut down.
They are all individual sites so you cannot sign in to one from another
as that would be like wanting to log in to a myspace account
from an online shopping account.
although I believe some browsers such as firefox have
browser add on apps that allow you to control all your profile log ins making it
easier for those of us who are social butterflies within cyberspace to get access
all their profiles easier, however I have not tried any myself so I can't
say whether they actually work well or not.

are any of you still on there occasionally?
I am wondering whether to shut down my page
and leave a forwarding message to everyone
as I am finding it hard to keep up with all these profiles.
I host dozens of websites myself on top of all these profile sites
and It is becoming too much to keep up with.

I am mainly on Tribe and only come on here when they are doing maintenance. A lot of people split for Ning some months back when Tribe was undergoing a lot of down time- I believe they were changing servers and maybe some administrative changes- but most went back.

A few people got off Tribe for good, some are here and some just took their lives back from the Black Hole Time Suck- but the threads there are still pretty active. Ning isn't, so much- only a couple posts per group per month on Tribe Bellydancers groups.
