Tribe Refugee Bellydancers

Welcome Tribe Refugees!

Well thats it Tribe is gone! I cant believe after all these years. I feel as though I have lost a Friend. Indeed I have lost many friends. There I was this morning trying to get onto Tribe after the down time this weekend to find the page no longer exists. I googled tribe and there on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe.net In black and white "As of September 5, 2008, www.tribe.net no longer exists."

"What is a "colo facility"?"

Made me think of a colonoscopy.

Ew.

I keep feeling homeless...

Don't believe everything you read, especially not on Wikipedia. That being said, it's a shame they couldn't find any code writers.

I for one am sick of all the downtime and excuses that tribe has given us in this last year. They say they're waiting on "one more part" but I've heard all the excuses I care to. IF and when it does come back up, I will copy what I need out of there and delete my account. IF they do come back up, I have a feeling I will not be the only one doing that. This will absolutely hurt their membership IF they even come back at all.

This is the World Wide Web and the playground is vast! I'll just find another playground to play on with all my friends. =)

uh...I just clicked the link, it now says ...for a full server upgrade...? Whatever, hassle!

I don't even GET a screen. I get a "cannot load page" screen, which is what I've been getting all day. I don't see any message about a part or a server upgrade, or any of that nonsense. And I frankly think it's all very silly. I don't want to get ripped apart like I did the LAST time I spoke my mind about Tribe. So I simply stopped paying for a "prem" membership, and moved on. We moved some of our class students over to Yahoo and we have a website - so we're all good. But we did that all cause Tribe is not something ANYONE should be relying on - we learned that the hard way last year when it went down right before a major event of ours.

I too have been ripped apart for speaking my mind about Tribe... but I don't care. It's been like a drug; get us hooked and then take it away slowly for a year and now all together. Well, my "addiction" has been broke. The withdrawal symptoms are subsiding, now I'm just pissed that I let myself become so damn dependent of something so unreliable.

We got burned just before a big event we were going to this summer. Major communications were going on and tribe was down for days! I set up a yahoo group (cuz I don't believe that google will go anywhere anytime soon) and everyone flipped out on me. They like tribe's format better. Well, so did I but I want to be able to communicate when I need to and I can't do that when the site is down every other minute of every day or every time you click on a link. To hell with that kind of aggravation!

Yup. I can relate. That's why Euphraxia has a website, and a yahoo group now. And I make a point of getting people's email addresses, too. There is life after Tribe, and there was life before it. I really went off on them a few weeks ago because after I canceled my membership, they kept on charging me and I didn't notice till they had charged me 5 months in a row. I got pretty upset, and so they refunded all my money, and that was it for me. I feel bad for all the people who are sitting and waiting now. When it goes up the place will be a mad house - if it goes up.

What the hell? They had something up on Saturday saying that they would be back Sept 7... I'll miss all the people there that I haven't added here or on facebook ...

Yeah. I have been using Tribe to promote an event that is coming up this weekend. When Tribe comes back up, I plan to promote ning pretty hard and try to get people to come over here. I'd hate to see that we all split up and go to different sites. I hope we can somehow manage to keep up with each other here or somewhere else. I loved the sense of community on Tribe. It would be such a shame to lose any of that.

I like it here (ning). It may not be as convenient as the "one glance and you can see which tribes have new info" home page of tribe, but I like the format and would be happy to stay here. It may take a while to sort out folks who have different names/handles here than on tribe.
