Well thats it Tribe is gone! I cant believe after all these years. I feel as though I have lost a Friend. Indeed I have lost many friends. There I was this morning trying to get onto Tribe after the down time this weekend to find the page no longer exists. I googled tribe and there on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe.net In black and white "As of September 5, 2008, www.tribe.net no longer exists."
"In the summer of 2008, Tribe experienced frequent down time and technical difficulties making it inaccessible to their users, sometimes for periods as long as 24 hours. Tribe promises a full redesign of their site which will alleviate these problems, scheduled to launch in August or September of 2008. As of Monday 8th 2008, Tribe had been down for over 3 days for a server upgrade."
There was a message that said it was coming back, yesterday afternoon.
If I click on any links, it says the page cannot be displayed.
As much as I love Tribe, I think I will try to start spending more time here even if it does come back up.
It has too many problems and has become to unreliable. If I see a dramatic change in reliability in Tribe-if it comes back- I may give it more of my attention.
I get the same message Nari got. And I'm done looking. It's silly. If it's coming back, it'll be back. If not, then we all cry, and then, we move on :)
I get the same. They are waiting on a "part". Darren has been working on this server switch for a long time... but I wouldn't call it dead just yet. The wiki posting that said tribe was dead was probably posted by someone who would LIKE to see tribe dead, but it was changed almost immediately to indicate that it would be back. Also, everything darren has said indicates that he will have it back up again sometime today.

looks like they did a colo move that did not go well
From Darren @ tribe via facebook
Someone asked that I give everyone an update, here it is:
We attempted to move the entire site to a new colo facility this weekend. Due to a $400 late fee, our current colo would not let us move. When we re-assembled the entire site we also did some equipment upgrades, and things have no gone as smoothly as they could -- we should have the site back up today.
Anyway, perhaps after all these changes Tribe will become more reliable. One can hope. ;) It will be worth the wait then.
Its scary to imagine, though, that all those conversations and contributions by so many folks to the collective awareness that a site like Tribe is the matrix of could just....poof!... vanish into thin air. But it is always a possibility. In fact, it is a certainty, if not today than at some point in the future.
All composite things, things that tend to come into being at some point in time, abide for a while, and then pass away -- like clouds, websites and ourselves -- are after all by their nature transitory.
